Institutional squatters

Critical label to describe parties or individuals who reach power without having won an election. Used from the right after the 2018 motion of no confidence that brought Sánchez to government.

Operation Catalonia

Set of police and media actions (National Police, BOE, OK Diario) allegedly coordinated under the Rajoy government to damage Catalan independentism. Partially investigated in parliament.

Operation Roca

Failed attempt (1986) by Miquel Roca i Junyent (CDC) and others to create a centrist reformist party at the state level. Historical antecedent to Ciudadanos' attempt decades later.

Political opposition

Set of parties and MPs not in government who exercise parliamentary control. In Spain it is led by the largest party outside the executive, sitting in the Wednesday control session.

Orgomanía (organigram mania)

Humorous criticism of the excessive use of organization charts, committees and sub-directorates in the state apparatus. Recurring whenever a government reshuffle takes place.

Otegismo

Political line associated with Arnaldo Otegi at the head of the abertzale left: institutional integration through EH Bildu, distancing from ETA's past, and pragmatic turn toward pacts with the PSOE.
