Tamayazo

May 2003 incident in which two socialist MPs (Eduardo Tamayo and María Teresa Sáez) failed to attend Rafael Simancas's investiture in Madrid, blocking his election and forcing fresh elections that Esperanza Aguirre won.

Ballot paper

Vote slip placed inside the envelope. Each candidacy has its own with the list of candidates. Blank ballots produce a blank vote; those that do not meet the format are void.

ECtHR (European Court of Human Rights)

European Court of Human Rights (Strasbourg). Rules on complaints against member states of the Council of Europe over violations of the European Convention on Human Rights. It has condemned Spain repeatedly (Parot Doctrine, ETA cases, etc.).

Third Way

Renewed social-democratic doctrine (Tony Blair, 1990s) that combines the market and the welfare state. It influenced Zapaterismo and the centrism of Joaquín Almunia's PSOE.

Tezanazo

Critical nickname for the CIS polls under José Félix Tezanos's chairmanship, repeatedly skewed upward for the PSOE compared to other surveys and actual results.

Tijeretazo (Zapatero austerity package)

Austerity plan announced by Zapatero in May 2010 (cuts to public salaries, pension freeze) under European pressure during the debt crisis. It marked the PSOE's economic-policy turn.

Trifachito

Nickname coined by the left in 2019 to describe the Andalusian government pact between PP, Ciudadanos and Vox after ousting the PSOE.
