Zapaterismo
Political line associated with José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero at the helm of the PSOE (2004-2011): historical memory, LGBT rights, withdrawal from Iraq, dialogue with ETA and a turn toward austerity in 2010.
Zaplanismo
Valencian political phase led by Eduardo Zaplana at the head of the regional PP (1995-2002). Associated with major projects (City of Arts, Castellón airport) and later with corruption investigations.
Zarzuela
Metonymic synonym for the Spanish Royal House, after the Zarzuela palace where the royal family resides. Its institutional agenda, vetoes on ministerial audiences and Christmas Eve speeches are recurring objects of political analysis.
